Comment:
Developed in 1964 from the earlier Zugvogel and SF-26, the Sf-27A was a Standard Class design intended to compete with Schleicherメs Ka-6E. It has typical Scheibe steel-tube structure (with a fiberglass nose section), all-flying tail, Schempp-Hirth type dive brakes and semi- reclining seating. The wing ribs are spaced only 4 inches apart and heavy plywood skins cover 85 % of the surface in order to help maintain the laminar profile. The SF-27M was a self-launching version of the SF-27A. The 2-cycle, 4-cylinder Hirth engine and propeller are mounted on a retractable pylon behind the cockpit. ATC
