Comment:
Developed in 1964 from the earlier Zugvogel and
SF-26, the Sf-27A was a Standard Class design
intended to compete with Schleicherメs Ka-6E. It
has typical Scheibe steel-tube structure (with a
fiberglass nose section), all-flying tail,
Schempp-Hirth type dive brakes and semi-
reclining seating. The wing ribs are spaced only
4 inches apart and heavy plywood skins cover 85
% of the surface in order to help maintain the
laminar profile. The SF-27M was a self-launching
version of the SF-27A. The 2-cycle, 4-cylinder
Hirth engine and propeller are mounted on a
retractable pylon behind the cockpit. ATC |
